Harriers Beaten in Cup Opener
Kidderminster Harriers tasted defeat for the first time in pre-season action tonight as League One side Yeovil ran out 2-0 winners in the clubs' opening Errea South West Challenge Cup match.
The Glovers fielded a strong side for the tie with Harriers keeping a similar line-up to their last two pre-season friendlies.
Striker Justin Richards had a number of first-half chances but was unable to find a breakthrough, and Harriers were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty following a foul by Josh Wagenaar.
Town had the ball in the net as Darren Way put the ball home, only for the goal to be disallowed for offside - Orlando Smeekes then went on to fire Yeovil into a 35th-minute lead which they took into the break.
The second half certainly had a more competive edge to it but on a poor surface, chances of any great quality were at a premium.
Towards the final whistle, sub Nathan Jones set-up Lloyd Owusu to put away they second of the night for the Huish Park outfit.
Harriers are next in action on Friday night when they take on co-host club Barnstaple (8:00pm)
