Harriers Have Winning Hunger
Mark Yates insists that his side want to go out and win their remaining seven league fixtures after amassing three straight victories thanks to yesterday's 3-0 win at Cambridge.
The comfortable success at The Abbey followed up the 4-0 thumping of Crawley and 2-0 Easter Monday win at home to Rushden and Diamonds.
The thirst for wins and habit of winning has developed a real desire inside the Aggborough camp to keep the run going.
So whilst Yates admitted that so many recent developments will be key foundations to build on for next term, his still remained adamant that winning games is their number one aim between now and April 26.
"We were good, and it was a good performance yesterday," he told harriers.co.uk today.
"We picked our moments and although it's a little too late, we're learning the art of defending and soaking up pressure as well as creating chances at the other end.
"We've just got to carry that on until the end of the season.
"Goals change the course of games and we're decent when we've got a lead, especially at the moment; we've got that desire and hunger and they key will be finding that from the word go next season.
"But there are still 21 points to play for before the end of this season and we're desperate to get the lot."
Young goalkeeper Dean Coleman put in a solid performance between the sticks for Harriers in the absence of Chris MacKenzie through injury.
Yates was full of praise for the former Walsall stopper's effort; and admitted that even though there's still hope MacKenzie will recovery from his injury with scan results due tomorrow, the chance to impress is all Coleman's.
"I thought Dean was excellent from the off," he continued.
"He made one mistake, and even that wasn't really a mistake; at least he came and made a decision to come and volley it when it went up in the air.
"Apart from that I thought he played well - I just asked him to be confident and make decisions and I think he did that.
"We'll see more with Macca's injury tomorrow but this gives Deano an opportunity to play games and put himself forward; yesterday was a decent showing from him."
