Youth Trials a Big Success
KIDDERMINSTER Harriers' new Youth Team is slowly beginning to take shape as boss Mark Yates prepares to take a second look at many hopefuls next week.
The club held two open trial dates at Aggborough during April, and the response from the local area was fantastic, with over 100 players seen overall across the two dates.
The Youth Team will be run from the start of next season through the Football in the Community scheme, and coach Nick Griffiths confirmed to harriers.co.uk that around 12 players have been invited to be a part of the squad.
He and first-team Manager Yates will next week give a selected batch of players a second chance to impress as they look to fill the remainder of the squad with around the same number.
"There are a number of lads who impressed immediately and are what you could call 'certainties' if you like," said Griffiths.
"But the overall quality of the players that turned up was very, very good and this will give us the chance to have a closer look at one or two of the others."
We'll bring you more news and information on the re-formation of the club's Youth Team soon.
